The principal reason behind the threat to the very existence of mankind is excessive vanity of mankind. It is almost impossible today to divest Man from his notion that the world was created for him coupled with the misplaced yet omnipotent vanity which makes him believe that the fate of the world depends on him.
If we have learnt from human recorded history, the earth existed even before the advent of man and evolution of mankind. The Sun is now about halfway through its middle age. It will continue to give the Earth light and heat for another 5 billion years. How long a star lasts depends on how big it is. The biggest stars live fast (meaning hot) and die young by blowing themselves to bits (Supernova).Smaller stars live calmly for hundreds of millions of years and die much more quietly.
The present post is prompted by the false notion of mankind that he can save the Earth. If one searches with the phrase “save the earth” on Google, he would be perplexed with 1240,000 hits. I am not even suggesting that I have a checked all these sites and they deal with the above phrase, but is a safe guidance to believe the belief of mankind is the protector of earth.
We forget that the universe and the earth is what mankind survives on though it would like to believe that it has enslaved nature through stunning scientific advancement. Mankind’s stupidity is evidenced by everything around us and all that exists under the sun known to human knowledge.
Vanity of vanities," lamented Solomon, "all is vanity!" Solomon used the word "vanity" 38 times in Ecclesiastes as he wrote about life "under the sun." The word means "emptiness," "futility," "vapor"; "that which vanishes quickly and leaves nothing behind." From the human point of view, life ("under the sun") does often appear futile; and it is easy for us to get pessimistic. But we should not mistake brutal honesty with pessimism.
As the whole world experiences ‘climate change’ in mild forms, the mankind in its various power manifestations as well as the counter forces set out to essentially protect itself under the banner “Save the Earth”
Even if mankind is wiped out from the face of the earth, the earth would continue. In a different forms perhaps. There may still be life forms on Earth but they may not be mammals .The same way the dinosaurs and mammoths became extinct. Thus there is no reason to think that Man possesses the capacity or power to save the earth. It does not possess the intelligence and maturity to protect itself. In its greed (which is nothing but a manifestation of vanity) he mindlessly continues to plunder the natural resources as if there is no tomorrow, speeding the process of his extinction. Relentless efforts to prove his superiority over his kin , extending suffering on his kind and systematically destroying the nature and the environment for shallow material gains, he forgets that he wont be able to survive in artificially created bunkers in case of a tectonic shift or a volcanic eruption.
The end of the world has been predicted by Man and there is enough discussion on the web. Each time the end the world is predicted in the past, they have been proved to be wrong as we survived that year Before 2012 it was 2006. Then 2000. And 1990, 1988, 1987, 1986, 1985, 1984, 1982, and so on.
The Mayan calendar mentions that a planet (substantially bigger than the Earth) called ‘Nibiro’ (Planet of the Crossing) which is known to cross the orbits of the Earth every 3630 years. NASA identified ‘Planet X’, widely believed to be Nibiro, in 1982. It is foretold to cross the path of the Earth sometime in 2012.We will have to wait and see. However, one scientist, unaffected by Mankind’s sudden obsession with the Mayan calendar, studying the pattern of the evolution of lifeforms on earth state "There is a cycle," says Felix, "a cycle that includes orogenesis (creation of mountains), seismic activity, sea level changes, black shale deposition, volcanism, extinctions, seafloor spreading and magnetic reversals." (To learn more, visit http://www.iceagenow.com/) Robert W. Felix, the author of "Not by Fire, But by Ice: The Next Ice Age Now" ($15.95, Sugarhouse Publishing, Bellevue, WA). Piling scientific fact upon fact, Felix notes that, "We're beginning to realize that earth is a violent and dangerous place to live. We're beginning to realize that mass extinctions have been the rule, rather than the exception for the 3.5 billion years that life has existed on earth."

Thus, empirical evidence suggests that man with his precious ego and vanity is incapable of matching the natural forces, .However, he seems to be playfully obsessed with his vane pleasures of Bioweapon, Clanking replicators, Antimatter, Close pass by a rogue star, Galactic jet, Alien pest control, Berserker swarm, Planet hatching and even as shallow as real estate on the moon.
Let earth save man.
